This zine is part of an interview project with artist Umico Niwa, working in collaboration with Kimi Hanauer at Press Press. We approached the layout with a sense of looseness and immediacy, allowing the structure to feel responsive to conversation rather than overly fixed. The sequencing and pacing reflect the back-and-forth nature of the interview, creating a rhythm that moves between image and text.
Visually, Press Press leans into contrast and disruption. The typography shifts in scale and orientation, functioning both as content and composition. The saturated palette and graphic elements echo Press Press’s ethos of publishing as a public, participatory act.
